Pandas to face rationing, Death Panels, & End-of-Life Counseling

The title is, of course, tongue-in-cheek, but the video I just saw certainly seemed to fit the bill.  And I’ve always thought the idea of developing an rational, “ethical” approach to “conservation” efforts concerning endangered species — especially in a culture that declares Evolution as its religion du jour — to be a fascinating question.

Here are some ABC News items on the question, with links to videos in each, I think:

Being cute and cuddly looking seems to be working in the Pandas’ favor.  I wonder if Dr. Emanuel’s calculations concerning ethical choices related to health care resources include a “cute and cuddly” factor?

(And for an oddly controversial commentary that some might consider related to this topic, check out “‘Animal Rights’ – Treating animals like human beings” by Mr. Davy Crockett. (PETA fans may want to avoid…))

  1. I was reminded today of a section of Zechariah 14 that COG’s scarcely ever read.

It’s 14:15 — about the Eternal bringing “the plague that falls upon the horses, the mules, the camels, the asses, and all the cattle in all their camps….” (Moffatt translation)

When that happens, PETA people had best stand back.

What are you thinking?
