Wars – Present, Past, and None

Eight years ago, we were visited by the furies of Arab lands.

That is a line from an excellent (in my opinion) commentary in the Wall Street Journal today, taking a look at the current war in Afghanistan, as well as adding an interesting perspective on the choice to go to war in Iraq.  I offer it today as something to reflect on here on this anniversary of September 11: “9/11 and the ‘Good War'” by Mr. Fouad Ajami, a professor at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies and an adjunct fellow at Stanford’s Hoover Institution.

This month’s Tomorrow’s World magazine has two articles on the matter of war: “Lest We Forget…” by Mr. John Meakin and “Poland and the Legacy of World War II” by Mr. Rod McNair.  One of our television broadcasts on the matter is well worth watching: “Will Wars Ever Cease?” by Mr. Richard Ames.
