Bee or Mosquito?

I have no idea who Marie O’Conner is, and I have no time to Wiki her name.  But this quote of hers I just came across is worth sharing:

“It’s not so much how busy you are, but why you are busy.  The bee is praised; the mosquito is swatted.”

Ouch.  I think I’m making honey these days, but just in case I’m keeping an eye out for swatters heading my way…

P.S.  I am reminded of the point I heard Mr. Jonathan Mcnair make last summer:  Mindlessly acting and being “busy” without an eye on what is really needed is like hearing the fire alarm go off and taking out the battery in response.  Quick action, but perhaps not the most helpful…

P.P.S.  Also, it reminds me of one of my favorite “episodes” of the comic strip “The Duplex” by Glenn McCoy.  In the three panel strip, the first two panels simply feature the dog sitting there gnawing on a chew toy — squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak, etc.  In the third panel, he finally thinks to himself — still chewing and squeaking — “This is why I never get anything done.”  (I commented on this in June of 2007, but the link there no longer works…)
