Recent Science News

A couple of science items in the news caught my eye — one recent and one older — and I thought I would pass them along as they might appeal to some of you.  The text below contain links to the full articles for more info.

  • Some scientists are suggesting that the apparent acceleration that has been detected in the universe’s expansion might not be due to mysterious “dark energy” but, rather, due to the possibility that earth exists in a “giant cosmic bubble.” It is a contentious statement, in that it would contradict the widely held view that earth should not be considered a “special place” in the universe in any way whatsoever.
  • And — shocking, I know — the recently claimed frozen Bigfoot corpse is a hoax.  I know this news is a month old or so, but I some how missed the surprising announcement.  Apparently, the Loch Ness Monster was unavailable for comment at the time.
