Today on the website of the Living Church of God there is an excellent commentary by Mr. Rod King for those who forget what trials can exist for people outside the borders of the United States.  I highly recommend it.  Here’s the first paragraph:

Last week I was in Kenya. The troubles and violence of January 2008 have subsided since the opposing political parties stitched together a workable compromise in the Parliament. A sense of national unity has arisen out of the shame of the six weeks of mayhem that took place early in 2008. Every day Kenyans are still recovering from the shock that such naked violence could happen in their land…

The entire commentary is currently on the front page of the Living Church of God website.  Or, you find it in the Commentary Library by clicking here: “Genocide” by Rod King.

I read this commentary this morning. We in America just don’t know how fortunate we have it. Even with all the wind, rain, and destruction of these past hurricanes, we are still a very blessed nation. Even with the banking system in a mess, we can still walk the streets and not fear the things these people have had to fear.

I learned a long time ago, it is not that we should be proud to be an American…we should be very thankful.

What are you thinking?
