The True Goal of Education

Okay, perhaps today will be the last of my posts about my children for a while…

Yesterday, ten-year-old Boy #1 and eight-year-old Boy #2 were at the kitchen table doing their schoolwork — Boy #1 being actively instructed on his spelling work, while Boy #2 worked independently on something else.

As my lovely wife instructed Boy #1 on the intricacies of turning “-y” into “-ies”, “-ied”, etc., Boy #2 helpfully warned Boy #1 under his breath: “Watch out. She’s trying to turn you into a Smart Zombie.”

After a pause, all three of them laughed. Then another pause. Then the indoctrination continued.

Long live the Smart Zombies.

P.S. Boy#4 has done nothing possessing any true entertainment value over the last week, as documented by these last three posts. Perhaps I need to take him in for a tune up.
